UFO Hefeweizen was awarded a bronze medal in the American Style Wheat Beer with Yeast category this past weekend at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival. For full list of results click here.

On September 9th, 2009 the intrepid brewers at Harpoon set out on a brave and noble mission to bring back UFO Pale Ale. First brewed back in 1999 and always remembered fondly, we’ve decided to bring it back for good as UFO’s newest seasonal beer (available from September through March). Check out some of the action from the first brewing and packaging below.

This just into the Unfiltered Life tasting room. A new UFO beer, it seems to be seasonal in nature, will be landing soon, hopefully in a beverage cooler or refrigerator near you. All beer drinkers should approach this beer carefully, namely, make sure you have a bottle opener with you at all times. When you encounter this new or any other UFO beer, drink and enjoy!

Big announcement next Wednesday, September 23rd. Stay tuned to local media for more information. Actually, you should go here and become a Friend of Harpoon to get the announcement as soon as it happens.

UFO Savage Strikes Takes Gold!!

UFO Savage Strike (our official Ultimate Team) took the championship at this year’s BUDA Summer Club Division 1 Open. Savage Strike ran the tournament going 6 and 0 and never allowed an opposing team to score more than 10 points against (for those unfamiliar with ultimate- that is very good). Local authorities wish to inform you that there has been a UFO sighted in your area. Urgent action by all individuals receiving this email is required. Beer lovers should immediately be prepared to enjoy 12 ounces of great, refreshing beer. Popular brewing scientists have discerned that the UFO spotted in your area is the new UFO White, an UnFiltered spiced wheat beer, that appears to have been brewed in the traditional of similar beers brewed in Belgium for well over 300 years. Authorities expect that readers will see UFO White in local beer stores and bars from April to October.

WARNING – ALERT
Individuals should be warned that UFO White bottles (right) will typical be seen in groups of six, as called a 6-packs of UFO White.

In some instances, UFO White will be found with similarly refreshing beers, UFO Hefeweizen and UFO Raspberry Hefeweizen.

This collection of UFOs will be found in 12-packs called UFO Explorer and will look like this:

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU APPROACH UFO WHITE
Obviously, extreme caution should be had, as many will have heightened levels of excitement and refreshment upon first contact. Please take the following steps:

Open bottle and pour half of the beer onto the side of a clean glass.
Swirl the bottle three times and pour the rest in.
Enjoy with a slice of orange, the head should be generous

Additionally, it is recommended that UFO White be enjoyed as a compliment to seafood, shellfish, soft cheeses, and green salads.

Appearance: hazy, golden yellow
Aroma: strong aroma of coriander and orange
Mouth feel: on the sweeter side of wheat beers
Taste: orangey, sweet, cracker-y wheat

WHERE TO LOCATE UFO WHITE
UFO White 6-packs and UFO Explorer 12-packs can be found starting today at both Harpoon Brewery locations (Boston, MA and Windsor, VT).

Additionally, UFO White is expected to land at your local beer store. Reports confirm that UFO White has been spotted in route to wholesalers and retailers. If UFO White has not landed at local beer stores, bars, or pubs, asking local establishments to carry UFO White is deemed highly appropriate.

Nothing says February like the Zach Hillyard Band…

Our UnFiltered Band for February is no stranger to accolades. In 2007 Zach took home awards at both Berklee College of Music and John Lennon Songwriting Contests. Later they were named the “Best College Band in New England” after winning OurStage.com’s College Clash Competition and a $5,000 Grand Prize. They won us over with carefully crafted songs featuring elements of Pop, Funk, R&B, and Soul. The Zach Hillyard Band offers a little something for everyone.

Each month throughout 2009 we’ll be featuring a different finalist from UFO Hefeweizen’s UnFiltered Band Search. Our first band is Emergency Service based out of New York City. They won us over with their unique sound which mixes funk, rock, hip hop, and just the right amount of jazz to get you moving… You can check them out in NYC on January 15th at the Canal Room or in Northampton, MA on January 23rd at the Bishop’s Lounge.
